(English version)
A ‘complex’ gaze on the world moves within the reality that is becoming. And the hybrid is increasingly a strategic environment. From attacks on cold chains (food and blood), to real or fake alarms about airline flights, to disinformation and interference, the hybrid — with its threats — calls us to a comprehensive rethink. A hybrid that, in a highly troubled historical phase, is accompanied by the triumph of the ‘plausible’: it is not so if you think so, but it is so if it seems so to you.
While many ruling classes, in a dramatic lack of leadership, move within the environment of a power in metamorphosis, ancient dynamics repeat themselves but with extraordinary acceleration and with the use of the human mind as strategic infrastructure. If, cyclically, democratic experience returns with participation and a critical spirit (see the midterms in the United States, and when it happened in Brazil and Serbia), we cannot make the mistake of failing to consider what is happening: we are in the midst of a passage of era.
A strongly political fact is the division of societies between those who own the technological ecosystem, those who use technologies consciously, those who are subjected to them and, above all, those who opt out of an innovation that risks sweeping away entire segments of the population, separating themselves from an almost ‘dogmatic’, one-directional progress. The issue is not technological antagonism, which is wrong just as the humanization of machines is, but the necessary historical critique of what is happening.
The ‘divide’ lives inside the hybrid and the plausible, in the continuous generation of a social fear within an elusive debate, completely detached from the real living conditions (not only material ones) of a large part of the population. And it is what strikes both the more mature generations and the youngest, with many disoriented both by a present that is difficult to understand and by anxiety about a future experienced as insecure.
The point is that we cannot afford pessimism, since we must instead recover a sense of responsibility that must hold us together. We need to initiate paths of historical judgment, self-educating ourselves to the complexity of the time we live in. Beyond slogans, beyond many (and useless) intellectual soliloquies, and within an information ecosystem founded on opposition and radicalization rather than on reflection, a transgenerational dialogue is indispensable in the common interest of our ‘magnifica humanitas’. We must not resign ourselves to a chaos of which we risk becoming, even unknowingly, victims.
