Dovremmo fermarci e guardarci allo specchio.
(English version)
Thought is already historical action. In a world taken apart and in metamorphosis, language — the choice of how we express ourselves — makes the difference.
It sounds like a paradox, but there is great clarity in dark times. And it is a clarity so evident as to be crystalline, indisputable, banal as the violence it carries within. The instances of words born of noise rather than silence multiply every day. Turbo-charged technological time, in the onlife condition, amplifies everything beyond measure, every limit forgotten.
Theologies are even built around technologies that some consider ungovernable because they are capable of self-governing, of establishing rules according to a paradigm of reality that we humans — inventors of those very technologies — refuse to understand. That a human method is needed, at least according to this writer, is a bare minimum.
Everything is to be rethought. Metamorphosis, after all, is a change of state, a transition from a known order to another we cannot yet see but which, according to some, dresses itself as Messiah and will come. If we stopped to reason, we would discover that God has nothing to do with it, while man — re-creator and at times betrayer of the magnifica humanitas he carries within — is entirely responsible.
We should stop and look at ourselves in the mirror. There is a radicalism in the new “messianic” order that will not take us far. Because, under the pretext of the great technological market, (non) culture would like to take us far back, restoring everything we thought we had overcome.
And yet, no. We find ourselves reckoning with barbaric expressions, incapable of reconciling (and of reconciling us) within the complexity of the reality that runs through the beyond. As the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded, that word questions us, bitterly. Whoever believes can build sustainable scenarios by riding fear, or by manufacturing it, by accusing and/or separating, has already lost. Free is the one who does not surrender to imminence.
