(India) Duplicitous online speech regulation imperils Indian democracy (East Asia Forum)

During India’s Republic Day celebrations on 26 January, a protest parade of farmers marched through Delhi in the hopes of repealing three arguably unconstitutional farm laws. The protest, which could have been an ode to the democratic fabric of the country, was marred by violence as the city saw farmers clash with police and enter its iconic Red Fort area.
