Once labelled as a ‘game changer’ that would unleash demand for travel and consumer spending, the Kuala Lumpur–Singapore High-Speed Rail (KLSG-HSR) has come to a final juddering stop. Put forward by the Malaysian government in 2010, the transport link was — following two postponements — nixed on 31 December 2020.
