China sets 2030 roadmap for AI-powered climate services

(DigWatch) China has unveiled a plan to build a modern climate service system by 2030, placing AI, digital operations and integrated data platforms at the centre of its efforts to improve climate monitoring, prediction and risk assessment. Issued by the China Meteorological Administration, the plan covers the 15th Five-Year Plan period from 2026 to 2030. It calls for progress in technological independence, digitised operations, scenario-based services and integrated platforms, with key areas expected to reach advanced international levels.
