US says EU ambition to cut reliance on American gas is ‘unfortunate’

(Elena Giordano – Politico) Donald Trump’s energy chief slammed his EU counterpart Thursday over suggestions Europe should reduce its dependence on American liquefied natural gas, insisting Washington would “never” weaponize energy exports. U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright was responding to EU Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen’s comments in late January that the bloc intended to reduce reliance on U.S. LNG following the Trump administration’s threats to seize control of Greenland, a Danish territory. “I think, Commissioner Jørgensen’s comments are very unfortunate. The United States is a rock-solid supplier of energy.
