Nulla di romantico. Con molto realismo, sottolineiamo la tenerezza tante volte evocata da Papa Francesco.
Ben sappiamo che la geopolitica è dura e che il mondo, in una fase di crescente complessità, è attraversato da una grande trasformazione. Siamo consapevoli che gli appelli morali rimangono inascoltati e che i rapporti di forza contano più delle buone intenzioni.
Ma oggi è in gioco la sostenibilità sistemica del mondo e dei mondi. Papa Francesco lo aveva capito e, a modo suo, affrontava il tema in modo radicale: d’altronde, cosa c’è di più radicale del Vangelo ?
Il nostro tema è laico e del tutto umano. Basta aprire un giornale, anche senza essere raffinati analisti, per capire che – in ogni ambito – la violenza banale persiste in noi e nella realtà. Non ci scolvolge la violenza in sé ma l’evidente superamento del limite d’inciviltà e la scelta di attaccare le regole multilaterali che, per decenni, hanno garantito – non senza problemi – pace e sicurezza.
Se prima non eravamo nel migliore dei mondi possibili, oggi siamo tornati alla legge della giungla. La tenerezza rappresenta l’umano che ritorna ragionevole, capace di mediazione, visione e dialogo: l’umano che ritorna politico.

Nothing of romantic. With great realism, we emphasise the tenderness so often evoked by Pope Francis.
We are well aware that geopolitics is hard and that the world, in a phase of growing complexity, is undergoing a major transformation. We are aware that moral appeals go unheeded and that power relations count more than good intentions.
But today, the systemic sustainability of the world and of worlds is at stake. Pope Francis understood this and, in his own way, addressed the issue radically: after all, what could be more radical than the Gospel?
Our theme is secular and entirely human. Just open a newspaper, even without being a sophisticated analyst, to understand that, in every sphere, banal violence persists in us and in reality. We are not shocked by violence itself, but by the evident crossing of the line of uncivil behaviour and the choice to attack the multilateral principles and rules that, for decades, have guaranteed peace and security, albeit not without problems.
If we were not in the best of all possible worlds before, today we have returned to the law of the jungle. Tenderness represents humanity returning to reason, capable of mediation, vision and dialogue: humanity returning to politics.
