China’s manufacturing purchasing managers’ index (PMI) fell slightly in August for the fifth consecutive month due to weaker manufacturing expansion and a narrowed economic outlook. Experts forecast that factory activity will remain in expansion territory through the year, noting however that the expansion rate will likely slow.
