Brazil’s 2050 Climate Neutrality Goal is an Important Gesture, but it Contradicts Climate Actions from the Administration (World Resources Institute)

In a speech during the Leaders Summit on Climate, President Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil presented new climate commitments and reinforced previous ones. The Brazilian Administration committed to reach climate neutrality by 2050 instead of 2060; to curb illegal deforestation by 2030 and increase funds for law enforcement against deforestation; and to keep the NDC target of reducing 43% of GHG emissions by 2030 compared to 2005 levels.
