Glaring shortages of COVID-19 vaccines are emerging and are expected to get worse in the second quarter of 2021. Rather than cooperate, governments have gone their own ways — often at the expense of the health of people in other nations. Nationalistic policy making and restrictive trade measures are on the rise. The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) is pleased to welcome Simon Evenett, professor of international trade and economic development at the University of St. Gallen and founder of the Global Trade Alert, for a discussion on vaccine shortages and trade tensions.
