(Russia/Hungary) Hungary expects to negotiate gas supplies with Gazprom (TASS)

Gas deliveries to Hungary are planned to be discussed with Chief Executive Officer of Gazprom Alexei Miller after successful talks with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, Hungary’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto says on Friday.

Szijjarto said during talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that he arrived at Moscow to purchase the coronavirus vaccine and gas for his country. “I have completed my mission as regards the vaccine. My positions are also good in terms of gas because Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation [Alexander] Novak agreed in general with my arguments. My task now is to convince Mr. [Alexei] Miller,” the Hungarian minister said.

The Russian-Hungarian agreement on gas supplies is due to expire this year. Hungary expects to receive 6.2 bln cubic meters of gas from Russia in 2021, Szijjarto said earlier. The country also intends to commission a 15-km long pipeline segment for transit gas deliveries across Hungary to Serbia.
