North Korean military modernization: North Korea may unveil new strategic capabilities at an upcoming military parade to showcase progress made under its five-year military modernization plan.
North Korean economy: The North Korean economy has continued to rebound due to sanctions evasion and increased trade with Russia and the PRC. That could reduce the likelihood of inter-Korean dialogue.
US-South Korean military cooperation: South Korea has decided to proceed with combined military exercises with the United States despite the MOU pushing to postpone the exercises.
