Houthi arms dealers use Zuckerberg’s Meta, Elon Musk’s X to sell US guns: Report (Interesting Engineering)

A new report has revealed that arms dealers linked to Yemen’s Houthi rebels are openly using social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Meta’s WhatsApp to traffic weapons, some labeled as U.S. government property. This activity appears to violate the platforms’ own policies against weapons sales. The Tech Transparency Project (TTP), a Washington D.C.-based watchdog group, discovered at least 130 X accounts and 67 WhatsApp business accounts operating from Yemen.
