Grid connected battery energy storage system (BESS) is a technology option that can accommodate high share of renewable energy and contribute to grid stability. India’s proposed target of 500 GW (gigawatts) of renewable energy (RE) capacity by 2030 requires that intermittent solar is paired with BESS to supply power day and night and through summer, winter and monsoon.
