  • A U.N. report says there is a 40% chance global temperatures will temporarily reach 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels in the next five years.
  • If this occurred, the world wouldn’t be crossing the Paris Climate Accord warming limit – but we would be significantly closer to reaching this threshold.
  • According to the study, every year from 2021 through 2025 is likely to be at least 1 degree Celsius warmer.
  • Expert Russell Vose has highlighted the fact that there are other indications of global warming besides temperature, such as changes in the atmosphere, ocean ice and biosphere.
