Climate Change – How much of Earth is currently protected? (WEF)

There is a call to protect 30% of land and ocean ecosystems by 2030.
The latest Protected Planet Report has stated that at least 17% of land environments are protected as of 2020.
However, the quality of those protected areas could still be improved and more steps need to be taken to preserve the world’s biodiversity.
Approximately one third of land and sea areas which have been identified as crucial for biodiversity are yet to be protected.
