Beijing’s global vision takes shape in Africa (Samir Bhattacharya – East Asia Forum)

China is increasingly using soft power and strategic investments to influence Africa, aiming to reshape the global order in its favour. Through the Belt and Road Initiative, media influence, educational exchanges and political training schools, Beijing is fostering pro-China narratives and securing diplomatic support. Historically, China has supported African liberation movements, and today, it’s deepening political and economic ties. As Africa’s relationship with traditional powers wanes, China’s growing influence signals a shift towards a Sino-centric world order.
