The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Government of Brazil, and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) have partnered to establish the Artificial Intelligence Climate Institute (AICI), which aims to strengthen developing countries’ institutional and technical capacity to design, deploy, and govern ethical, resource-efficient AI solutions for climate action. Announced at the 2025 UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, the institute will be hosted by Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) within the ITU’s Green Digital Action Hub in Brasília.
