Canada has welcomed plans by Bell Canada to expand its AI computing infrastructure in Saskatchewan by up to 900 MW, potentially creating a 1.2 GW AI infrastructure hub in the province.
The proposed expansion of Bell AI Fabric could involve capital investment of up to C$52.5 billion and create 4,500 jobs, according to the Canadian government. Ottawa is presenting the project as part of a broader effort to increase domestic computing capacity so that AI systems and other digital services can operate on infrastructure governed by Canadian law and located under Canadian control.
