The People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) is integrating lessons learned from observing Russia’s war in Ukraine in the field of military medical care (MMC) capabilities.
The Army Medical University will likely act as the lead in efforts to enhance MMC capabilities due to its crucial role in training new personnel and also because it aligns with the “three-in-one” training system initiated in 2013 that focuses on training “new era” personnel.
Integrating unmanned systems into MMC work is the most significant development as it seeks to increase the survivability of casualties.
Other developments are the increased use of unscripted scenarios and competitions as part of its training program for casualty care.
The PLA likely still faces deficiencies despite making advancements with its MMC capabilities, such as the quality of the training and equipment used to treat injuries.
