(Nicholas Farrelly – East Asia Forum) Myanmar’s military junta is pursuing a carefully managed strategy of political rehabilitation, using elections to create the appearance of civilian rule while preserving military control. The regime presents itself as stabilising the country, but resistance forces continue to hold territory across much of Myanmar and the conflict shows little sign of resolution.
