Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein in Amman on Wednesday, where the two stressed the need to ensure Iraqi territory is not used as a “tool for aggression” against neighboring countries.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting in support of Jerusalem and its holy sites, held in the Jordanian capital.
Prince Faisal and Hussein “stressed the need to support everything that would strengthen Iraq’s interests and its relations with Arab and Islamic countries, in a way that ensures its territory and resources are not used as a tool for aggression against its neighbors and contributes to development and stability across the region,” the Saudi foreign ministry said.
The ministers also reviewed regional developments and “reaffirmed the depth of relations between the two brotherly countries,” the ministry added.
Last month, Saudi Arabia, in coordination with US Central Command (CENTCOM), struck Iran-backed militia targets in Iraq after drones launched from Iraqi territory by the militias attempted to attack Saudi oil facilities.
