Explosions in Dubai and Doha. Air strikes on Beirut and Tehran. The US Embassy in Baghdad has been attacked

Several explosions were heard in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, and in Doha, the capital of Qatar, according to AFP journalists at the scene. The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence reported that it had intercepted a missile attack, whilst in Dubai the explosions followed an alert on mobile phones urging residents to ‘seek shelter immediately’ due to ‘potential missile threats’.

Three districts of Beirut have been bombed, according to Lebanese media reports, shortly after Israel announced strikes against Hezbollah in the Lebanese capital and on Tehran. Israeli aircraft bombed the districts of Kafaat and Haret Hreik, on the southern outskirts of the capital, and a raid struck a flat on the upper floors of a residential building in Doha Aramoun, in the same area.

The US embassy in Baghdad was hit by a drone and rocket attack, following a similar attack a few hours earlier. This was reported by a security official. According to an AFP journalist, air defences intercepted the first projectile, whilst the second – believed to be a drone – struck the diplomatic compound, causing an explosion.
