Cardinal Parolin: Preventive wars risk setting the world ablaze

(our translation from Ansa)

‘If states were granted the right to “preventive war”, according to their own criteria and without a supranational legal framework, the whole world would risk going up in flames.’ This was emphasised by Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, commenting on the US and Israeli attack on Iran. ‘This breakdown of international law is truly worrying: justice has been replaced by force, the force of law has been replaced by the law of force, with the conviction that peace can only come about after the enemy has been destroyed,’ Parolin told the Vatican media.
