Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will hold a meeting with UN High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations Miguel Angel Moratinos on January 18 in Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said during Friday’s briefing.
“On January 18, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will meet with UN High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations. He will be on a visit to Moscow,” she said.
According to the diplomat, they will discuss the preparations for the World Conference on Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union with the participation of the UN, set to take place in May 2022.
“We welcome the active involvement of the Alliance in the preparations for the work of the World Conference, and we support its participation in all initiatives aimed to reach an accord between representatives of different ethnic, denominational and cultural groups,” Zakharova said.
She added that Moratinos plans to hold meetings at the Russian Federation Council (upper house of parliament) and meet with the leaders of Russian traditional religious communities.
