Indonesia – Patronage is politicising Indonesia’s bureaucracy (East Asia Forum)

Bureaucratic appointments are coming under the spotlight in Indonesia due to a pattern of politicians abusing their power. The latest survey from Indonesia’s state civil apparatus commission, Komisi Aparatur Sipil Negara (KASN), found 26 counts of promotion without open selection processes, 10 problematic open selection processes and 207 cases of relocation, promotion and discontinuation without clear rationale in national and local government in 2019.
